U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5th) returned from Israel this week after leading an official intelligence committee trip, including a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and families of American hostages.
“My conversations all were around those objectives: how to get the hostages home, how to crush Hamas and deliver humanitarian aid,” said Gottheimer in an interview with NJ Spotlight News. “And of course, keep every aggressive act as targeted as possible.”
Gottheimer has introduced legislation that would expand existing American and Israeli first-responder cooperation, including state and local responders traveling to Israel.
“We have to support Israel,” he said. “It’s our key ally who was attacked by terrorists that seek to do harm to us as well.”
