U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer is taking another shot at passing a bill that would provide federal funds for smaller police departments. Gottheimer (D-5th) was joined by the heads of several police unions Friday as he announced he is introducing a new version of the Invest to Protect Act, which would help provide training and resources for departments with fewer than 200 sworn officers.

“This bipartisan, bicameral bill will make critical investment in law enforcement in training, in recruitment and retention of officers, and mental health officers, to protect our officers, our families, and of course, our great communities,” said Gottheimer.
