The campaign for the New Jersey governor’s race is officially underway. The candidates for the race are set. As expected, Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, who ran unopposed, will take on businessman and former Assembly member Jack Ciattarelli in the general election in November.
Ciattarelli won the Republican primary on Tuesday, fending off challenges from Trump devotees, pastor Phil Rizzo and engineer Hirsh Singh, as well as former Franklin Mayor Brian Levine. This is Ciattarelli’s second run at the governor’s office, having failed to get the nomination in 2017. This time he has the backing of the state’s GOP establishment, and he has wasted no time going after Murphy as the campaign kicks off.
