On Monday in Trenton, senators and Assembly members hustled to get big bills passed in the last legislative session of 2021. But this pre-Christmas session provided more theatrics than usual.
Many Republicans lawmakers are angry over policies that require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test to enter the state’s capitol. And demonstrators against vaccine mandates gathered outside the State House, where security measures meant everybody got checked for vaccination proof and screened for signs of illness. It’s no wonder caucuses started late and went long, pushing back sessions in both houses.
