A troop of Bergen County Girl Scouts found a way to keep their community supported during Mental Health Awareness Month by spreading some special art and kindness.
Caren Scoropanos, leader of a Girl Scout Troop in Wyckoff, described the troop members placement of “kindness rocks” throughout the town as something that “really remind[s] people that there’s good in the world. And there’s been so much lately where we’ve been getting negative messages, and the positivity that the girls decided to put out in the world really reflects on everyone around us in our community.” She was thrilled to see their idea ripple through the other troops in town, resulting in more than 500 “kindness rocks” being placed around Wyckoff.
Betty Garger, CEO of Girls Scouts of Northern New Jersey, said it’s just one way the Girl Scouts are addressing the challenges that have arisen from COVID-19.
