NJ Spotlight News anchor Briana Vannozzi spoke with new Washington, D.C. correspondent Ben Hulac about covering the ongoing saga of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and his accusations of corruption.
Hulac, who started this week as NJ Spotlight’s eyes and ears in Washington, began his coverage by following the money trail from one of Menendez’s associates and shared what he found.
Federal prosecutors have alleged Menendez introduced his developer friend and co-defendant Fred Daibes to high ranking officials in Qatar and Egypt — enabling both men to profit from the relationships. But as Hulac reported, long before Daibes was charged with federal bribery and corruption, he was a well known entity among New Jersey political circles. He donated heavily not just to Menendez, but several other prominent elected officials in the state.
