Ed “the Trucker” Durr, the former Republican state senator from South Jersey, launched his gubernatorial campaign on Monday night at a church in Egg Harbor.
Durr shocked the political world in 2021 by ousting longtime Democratic Senate President Steve Sweeney in the 3rd Legislative District. In his speech on Monday night, Durr slammed Gov. Phil Murphy and Democrats. Saying New Jersey is in a “crisis,” he criticized the Murphy administration’s policies on taxes, guns and education.
Durr is the third Republican candidate to enter the race for governor, joining Senate Minority Leader Jon Bramnick and former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli. The election is still more than a year away.
