Fairleigh Dickinson University’s men’s basketball team is heading to the NCAA tournament, the seventh time FDU has qualified.
First-year coach Tobin Anderson said, “I think when you have a year when you’re not expected to be very good, and you end up being pretty good, it makes it even more fun. It’s been a great ride for us.” The Knights didn’t win their conference tournament, but clinched a spot by reaching its championship game. The conference champions, Merrimack, aren’t eligible to advance because they transferred from Division II to Division I and must sit out their first four years.
FDU is not the only team from the Garden State to clinch a spot in the men’s competition. The Princeton University team also made the cut.
