The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to expand access to booster shots for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as soon as Thursday, and similar expanded access for the Moderna vaccine could come as soon as Friday. The news comes as some states, including nearby Connecticut and New York, have made boosters for all vaccines available to all adults. Gov. Phil Murphy has not yet taken such a step, but he has urged New Jerseyans to get a booster even if they’re unsure of their eligibility. So far in New Jersey, more than six million people are fully vaccinated, including children, and more than one million adults have gotten booster shots. The state reported another 10 deaths and more than 2,000 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, continuing a rising trend in recent days as some experts worry about a holiday-driven surge.
