Following today’s snowstorm, Warning Coordinator Meteorologist for NOAA in Mount Holly Joe Miketta told NJTV News Managing Editor Mike Schneider that extremely cold temperatures are expected for the next few nights.
Miketta said that today’s storm was different than Sunday’s storm because the snowfall was more widespread and hit the central part of the state more than the southern region. This storm was also quicker in movement, starting at sunrise and ending mid-afternoon, he said.
The cold front came through and a wave of low pressure developed along it, so between the front and wave of low pressure, both of them combined to produce the snowfall, Miketta said.
“What is going to happen now is that we are going to have extremely cold temperatures the next couple of nights because of that cold front,” Miketta said.
Miketta said that this has been a normal amount of snow for December, but the amount has been lower than usual in the northern portion of the state.
