On Monday, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigated a spreading hepatitis outbreak that’s now killed six children nationwide. It also has expanded to 180 reported young patients across the country. Four children in New Jersey are among them. While most have recovered, some cases have been severe. Hepatitis is a leading cause of liver cancer in the United States. The outbreak is top of mind for medical experts during this Hepatitis Awareness Month because it has largely gone undetected.

Dr. Su Wang is the medical director of the Viral Hepatitis Programs at RWJBarnabas Health and joins NJ Spotlight News to explain more about the disease and possible connections behind the outbreak.
