With masks off and the state’s public health emergency over, there’s a sense that things are getting back to normal. But people with disabilities and those who are immunocompromised say they are feeling left behind as COVID-19 remains a worrisome risk for them.

“The problem I have is that not only am I risking myself, but there are also so many people that have relatives that are immunocompromised, so you’re playing with their lives. I am not saying don’t go to normalcy. You should go back to normal, but look the numbers, the numbers aren’t right now,” said Raj Nagarajan. “Because when I look at the stats daily, the numbers of deaths never seem to reduce. What’s happening is we feel extremely left behind.”

As part of our Living with COVID series, we report on how those with health issues are managing without pandemic protections.
