For hundreds of students in Cresskill, another week has gone by where they are out of the classroom, forced to learn remotely. First COVID-19 kept them out. And just as they were back in person earlier this year, Tropical Storm Ida caused extensive damage to their school, forcing its closure.

On Friday a large group of parents and students rallied in Trenton, seeking Gov. Phil Murphy’s help to get money in place for necessary building repairs and a reopening. With the financial issues yet to be sorted out, parents and kids are bracing for the unthinkable — that they may not be back in the classroom until next fall.
