New Jersey began rolling out COVID-19 vaccinations for children as young as six months of age after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this weekend approved Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for the littlest kids. The state Department of Health pre-ordered 61,000 doses and began distributing supplies to pharmacies and doctor’s offices around the state.
Families can schedule shots at some larger venues via the state’s COVID-19 website or at county vaccination centers. But appointments remain scarce and some parents are networking on social media to grab spots at vaccination sites. “We called around six or seven pharmacies. But there are some Reddit and Facebook groups where the information got around … And we heard about this place and so we came here,” said Oliver Rourke whose two-year-old Madeline got vaccinated Tuesday in Montclair.
