As well as vaccines, effective and accessible treatments are also key parts of the solution to the coronavirus pandemic. Some pharmaceutical companies are shifting their focus back to therapeutics now that vaccine distribution is underway.

According to a study by Hackensack Meridian Health, hydroxychloroquine — a drug once considered controversial in the treatment of COVID-19 patients and touted by former President Donald Trump — proved to be of benefit to certain COVID-19 patients.
