Moderna announced Monday its vaccine is “safe and produces a powerful immune response in children ages 6 through 11.” This comes as a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel is set to review data of Pfizer’s vaccine for children ages five through 11 on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

With a vaccine potentially available for kids as early as next month, that could help take the pressure off schools struggling to keep up with contact tracing and quarantines as more students test positive for COVID-19 across the state. In New Jersey, those tasks are placing a big burden on school administrators and school nurses.
