On Thursday, the Senate completed its part of voting to approve a stopgap bill, and sent it to the House. Thursday evening the House passed the short-term bill, avoiding a government shutdown until March. It’s now up to President Biden to sign the bill into law.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2nd) was the only New Jersey member who voted against the bill.

In an interview with NJ Spotlight News in the run-up to the House vote, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11th), discussed the efforts to avoid a shutdown.

The New Jersey congresswoman said, “[The GOP] simply can’t govern at this point, and it’s become so egregious … We’re seeing this kind of breaking point as we try just to get the budget passed just to get the supplemental passed.”
