Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli wooed voters Monday morning at Clifton’s Tick Tock Diner, a traditional campaign stop for both Republican and Democratic candidates. With less than 24 hours before the polls open on Election Day, he’s got precious little time left to close an eight-point gap reported in the latest Rutgers-Eagleton poll.

Ben Dworkin, director of the Rowan Institute for Public Policy and Citizenship, said, “Enthusiasm appears to be on the Republican side, and that has certainly helped Jack Cittiarelli. The question is whether there’s enough of them.” Ciattarelli has barnstormed the state looking to shore up support among reliably Republican voters and overcome the 1-million-vote margin of registered Democrats.
