Soon after landing in Israel, Gov. Chris Christie wasted no time in kicking off hist first overseas trip as governor. Christie, accompanied by his wife and three children, met with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Prime Minister greeted the governor in his Jerusalem office, and spoke of the commonalities between New Jersey and the Jewish state.

“You know there are so many similarities between New Jersey and Israel,” said Netanyahu. “We’re roughly the same size. We’re roughly the same population. I know your voters have better neighbors. Other than that, there are several similarities and I look forward to discussing how we can increase the cooperation.”

Gov. Christie spoke warmly of his host country, telling Netanyahu, “This is my first visit abroad as governor and there was never any question of where we would come first, so I’m glad we did.”
