Former Gov. Chris Christie says it makes “no sense” that the Murphy administration is keeping small businesses closed while big retail stores are allowed to be open. Christie blames New Jersey’s high unemployment on the fact that many small business workers can’t return to work. Christie made the comments while providing an update on the New Jersey 30 Day Fund, a grant program he launched to provide funding for businesses around the state.

Restaurant owners are waiting to learn whether they’ll get any financial help from the state. A bill has been formally introduced to offer them $30 million aid to recover the money lost when Murphy decided against allowing indoor dining.

Organizers say some 20,000 workers participated in Monday’s nationwide strike to call attention to the treatment of Black Americans in the workplace. Dr. Sheri Davis, a senior program director of the Rutgers Center for Innovation in Worker Organization, says recent protests have prompted companies to examine their diversity efforts. Recently, the Rutgers Center expanded a nationwide initiative to elevate more women and people of color.
