Pharmacists are doing their best to provide customers with alternative solutions amid a severe shortage of children’s medication this cold and flu season. With the country experiencing a so-called tripledemic of flu, RSV and COVID-19, many kids are showing symptoms of all three, and medications to treat these conditions can’t stay on the shelves.

The Biden administration announced it will release doses of prescription flu medicine from the strategic national stockpile. Among pharmacies that have medications in stock, more and more are limiting the amount people can buy. The Walgreens chain is limiting online purchase of over-the-counter pediatric fever-reducing products to six while CVS is limiting them to two, both online and in stores.
