The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shortened the recommended isolation period for those who test positive for COVID-19 to five days — down from 10 — if they are asymptomatic and wear a mask around others. The CDC also said a five-day quarantine period is OK for vaccinated people who are exposed to the virus. People who are boosted may not need to quarantine at all.

In an interview with NJ Spotlight News, Dr. Stephanie Silvera, an epidemiologist and public health professor at Montclair State University, discusses the updated guidance.
