First lady Tammy Murphy was not the only U.S. Senate candidate to drop out of the primary.
A GOP contender and former News 12 New Jersey reporter Alex Zdan also announced on Monday that he’s dropping his Senate bid. That leaves entrepreneur Curtis Bashaw and Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner left to fight for the Republican nomination.
The filing deadline passed at 4 p.m. on Monday, with candidates required by then to submit their nominations and signatures. The deadline applies to Senate and House hopefuls, as well as those all the way down to the local level.
In addition to the two contested Senate primaries, “we’re going to have primary battles in at least five Democratic districts and six Republican districts for House races,” said NJ Spotlight News senior writer Colleen O’Dea.
