Thursday evening is the first night of Hanukkah, a holiday that reminds people to be a source of light even in dark times. For Jersey City neighbors, that message takes on a new meaning this year as the community reflects on the attack that targeted Jewish residents one year ago on Dec. 10 and, after an hours-long shooting rampage fueled by anti-Semitism, left a Jersey City police detective and three innocent civilians dead.
Correspondent Joanna Gagis reports the community is uniting amid the tragedy. This report is part of our new series, “Exploring Hate.”
