After a year that saw much of the usual Black Friday frenzy shift online due to the pandemic, this year — with millions of people vaccinated — shoppers are back at brick-and-mortar stores to cross items off their holiday shopping lists. Economists anticipate record spending this year, a boon for malls that took a backseat to online deals last year.
At American Dream in Bergen County — one of New Jersey’s highest-profile malls — customers were there as the sun was rising Friday, ready to shop and to have some fun.
