Come Nov. 15, the state’s moratorium on homeowner foreclosures is set to end. Foreclosure proceedings have been permitted through this period, but no one was allowed to be physically removed from their home. The state says it offers free foreclosure mediation for homeowners behind on their payments and lenders are offering mortgage forbearance and financial protections for residents through a 90-day grace period.

The state Legislature will hold another voting session on Nov. 15, to try to clear out bills in the lame-duck session. Among the bills currently on the docket for Monday is legislation designed to help revive the state’s economy, by promoting the tourism industry. The bill seeks to increase state spending by $25 million for new tourism ads. Another bill up for debate would set up a loan program for schools to help cover the costs of purchasing electric vehicles.
