In his State of the State address, Gov. Phil Murphy called for development of a program of state tax incentives for companies offering remote work. A survey from the career site Ladders projects that the number of people working remotely will increase this year and that by the end of 2023, 25% of all professional jobs in North America will be remote.

In an interview on NJ Business Beat, Tim Sullivan, the head of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, said New Jersey has an opportunity to become the most friendly state for remote and hybrid work. New Jersey could create an environment where residents are getting hired for remote jobs while the state benefits from additional tax revenue. At the same time, Sullivan said the state won’t abandon efforts to attract companies with physical office space or headquarters to New Jersey.

There were some holiday travel hassles for passengers at Newark airport’s brand new Terminal A Monday morning, with the TSA tweeting that staffing issues and higher than normal passenger volumes were creating excessive wait times at the terminal. The tweet urged passengers to arrive two hours before their scheduled departure.
