Murphy says infrastructure bill is job generator, game changer

It’s not clear what’s next for the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate on companies. Over the weekend, a federal appeals court temporarily blocked the mandate, which requires workers at large private employers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly testing. The suit was filed by Republican attorneys general in five states, along with some companies. The court cited potential constitutional issues with the mandate.

Gov. Phil Murphy says the new infrastructure bill sent to President Biden is a job generator and a game changer, with $12 billion on its way to New Jersey to fix roads and bridges and money for the Gateway project too. The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce says the bill will create thousands of new jobs.

Union workers have been picketing outside the Meadowlands Exposition Center. The workers, part of Local 59 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, are on strike after failing to reach a new contract agreement with SMG Exposition Services. Local president Greg Hancox says they want better wages and improved working conditions. The parent company of SMG did not immediately comment on the labor dispute.
