If the first gubernatorial debate Tuesday night was any indication, the mudslinging will ramp up as Gov. Phil Murphy and Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli hit the campaign trail in the final weeks before the election. Ask either side and they’ll both say their guy won. Neither candidate made a serious misstep, but they may have also missed an opportunity to hit on more of the subjects that matter most for those heading to the polls.
