All eyes will be on Washington, D.C. on Thursday night as President Joe Biden is set to deliver the annual State of the Union address.

Ben Hulac, NJ Spotlight News’ Washington correspondent, joins anchor Briana Vannozzi to preview the speech.

This year’s speech is expected to be dominated by topics like the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, an ongoing wave of immigration domestically, and a looming election rematch with former President Donald Trump. In such a polarized time, Hulac said he expects the President to try to be the voice of civility and cooperation.

“That is what Biden will hearken back to, a state of normalcy, of political normalcy,” he said. “He, of course, spent years in the Senate, and he sees himself as a dealmaker who can usher in a new era of a more perfect union, as he likes to say.”
