A hit-and-run case involving Jersey City Councilwoman Amy DeGise is far from over. The bicyclist hit by DeGise’s SUV last July filed a $1 million tort claim against the city for injuries sustained in the accident. The victim, Andrew Black, filed the claim in August but it didn’t come to light until last week’s court hearing, when DeGise pleaded guilty for failing to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries. DeGise’s black Nissan Rogue struck Black at a Jersey City intersection after he ran a red light the morning of July 19.

The accident was caught on the city’s video surveillance cameras, which showed DeGise didn’t stop. DeGise, who turned herself in six hours later, lost her driver’s license for one year and must pay a $5,000 fine.
