Assemblymen Jon Bramnick and John Wisniewski discussed Gov. Chris Christie’s State of the State address with NJTV News Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron.

The pair discussed points that Christie addressed, including bipartisan reforms and helping those with drug addiction.

Wisniewski said that Christie covered plenty of points, but he did not cover areas such as the Transportation Trust Fund and pension reform.

“The governor made some very good points about issues like drug addiction but it’s what he didn’t cover — Transportation Trust Fund, pension reform,” said Wisniewski. “The governor said we had a world class transportation network in New Jersey. Yet just the other day, the Star-Ledger there was a story about how Morris County had to close their bridge because of a lack of funding in the state. So the tale of the things that are unaddressed by this governor because of his national ambitions, is really what underscored this speech.”

Bramnick said that the Legislature is in the middle of negotiating a solution for the Transportation Trust Fund.

“We’re in the middle of negotiating a solution to the Transportation Trust Fund and we’re going to have a solution because we have to,” said Bramnick. “And one of the issue that’s been discussed is getting rid of the estate and inheritance tax. Because a lot of people here move to other states because they can’t afford to die here and transfer their businesses to their children within a family business. So there’s hopefully a global solution to these issues.”
