A shocking upset is now official. On Wednesday, Senate President Steve Sweeney conceded to his Republican opponent Edward Durr in the 3rd Legislative District. Sweeney, who had held the position for nearly 12 years, was one of the most powerful politicians in the state. Durr had never run for office before.

Sweeney took only three questions, but if you listened closely to the speech that preceded the brief Q&A, you heard a laundry list of accomplishments that could one day be the kernel of a gubernatorial stump speech.
