Another Princeton University professor has been awarded a Nobel Prize this week. David MacMillan is sharing the 2021 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his work finding revolutionary new ways to design and build organic molecules, which then get used in everything from medicine to food products. The work made a significant impact on pharmaceutical research and created “greener” chemistry, according to the Swedish Academy of Sciences.

MacMillan shares the prize with Benjamin List of the Max Planck Institute in Germany. On Tuesday, Princeton Professor Syukuro Manabe was named as part of a trio to be awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in physics.
