St. Peter’s University Hospital has signed a letter of intent with RWJ Barnabas Health and will begin formal merger talks. There’s been rapid consolidation of hospitals and health care systems in New Jersey.

New Jersey Citizen Action is speaking out against Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield’s proposal to change its corporate structure to a non-profit mutual company. The progressive group says it’s unclear what the change would mean for insurance policyholders. Horizon says changing its structure would make it easier to invest in new technologies.
