Cruz: The penultimate day of this campaign and Phil Murphy is following the game plan he’s followed for the last several weeks at least, and that is to say limited exposure to the press and limited exposure to voters who haven’t already committed to his campaign. Where Kim Guadagno is crisscrossing the state in a bus and making stops at every diner she can find, Phil Murphy is holding rallies with the faithful. Monday was no exception.
Murphy: It isn’t normal times folks, this is not a normal situation where things are sort of bumping along and all you have to do is take the baton and keep it going. We got a lot against us and a lot on our plate. And if the issues of substance were not enough already, particularly the economy, you’ve got awful behavior out there, awful behavior. … I’m sure you all have seen these mailers going around saying deport to a Chinese-American and Indian-American candidates. It’s awful un-American stuff. To our brothers in the Sikh community, we saw this on Friday night with our Ravi Bhalla who was told don’t let the terrorist take over Hoboken. It’s awful, despicable stuff. I don’t know if you’ve seen the advertisements that my opponent is running against me that implies that I’m going to have the backs of criminals. I want the backs of “Dreamers” who are every bit as American as Josh’s two brothers and his sister, so these are not just normal times, folks. We have to stay together. We have to remember that we rise and fall as one — one America, one state of New Jersey. And I want to be the governor for all nine million of us, not just some of us.
Cruz: The campaign has one more of these rallies Monday night and then a series of Get Out The Vote rallies Tuesday, culminating in what they hope will be a victory party in Asbury Park.
