Advocates push for cheaper medical marijuana in NJ

They say prices at dispensaries are onerous

Advocates for medical marijuana are pushing to make it more affordable in New Jersey. They want the state to approve legislation that would allow residents to grow their own cannabis at home. They say the high price at dispensaries is forcing people to buy medical marijuana on the black market or travel out of state where it’s cheaper.

“This is something where New Jersey remains an outsider. Most states that have medical cannabis or even adult-use marijuana laws allow citizens to grow a small garden. We’re not talking about a major farm in your house. We’re talking about a very limited amount of personal plants,” said Chris Goldstein, regional organizer for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
