A New Jersey think tank is calling on lawmakers to create a state-level child tax credit. In a new report, New Jersey Policy Perspective outlines proposals to help keep families on their feet. Advocates say though New Jersey is one of the wealthiest states in the nation, one in 10 children here lives in poverty.
“We would love to see a state-level tax credit that really can be available to families at least up to 250% of federal poverty levels,” said Renee Koubiadis, anti-poverty director at New Jersey Citizen Action.
