A possible option for New Jersey’s battered budget

Gov. Phil Murphy says the fight against COVID-19 could leave the state with some serious cash flow shortages. He’s now asking lawmakers to authorize the use of emergency borrowing powers, but it’s unclear whether the Legislature will approve.

An economic recovery task force has been formed by South Jersey’s District One legislators to help businesses navigate through this period and plan for their eventual reopening. State Sen. Michael Testa is hopeful at least part of the summer tourism season can be salvaged.

Millions of Americans have received their checks from the IRS and millions more checks are on the way. But the economic relief program has had its share of hiccups, according to numerous reports. Some checks went to the wrong bank accounts, and others were issued to deceased people. Some people are also reporting issues with the IRS online tracking tool.
