The week between Christmas and New Year’s is an important one for history buffs. It was on Christmas Day that George Washington and his army crossed the Delaware River and began a ten-mile march to Trenton to fight in a battle that marked a turning point in the Revolutionary War.
Each year at this time, the city of Trenton and a variety of nonprofits host Patriots Week — a series of events to explore historic sites and learn about pivotal battles. Sunday’s reenactment of Washington crossing the Delaware was canceled due to icy conditions and high water levels, but there are plenty of other activities being held over the next few days.
