At the end of a dirt road in Tabernacle is Camp No Worries, a place for kids aged 6 to 16 who have been diagnosed with cancer or are a sibling of one who has.
“It’s medically supervised but a traditional camp in every sense of the word,” said camp founder Kasey Massa. “Thirty-three years ago I was diagnosed right before the summer entering sixth grade with a malignant brain tumor. So my memories of that summer were sitting down and being told all the things I could not do.”
For 25 years, Massa has worked year round to give the kids all the things they could do. Hundreds of hours go into planning the one-week camp that’s free to campers. The camp is staffed by volunteers, some of which previously attended Camp No Worries.
“I loved being a camper and getting to know all my counselors and having great experiences and learning, so I wanted to be able to give that back to the new campers so they could grow up with the same experience,” said volunteer Reilly Goodwin.
