NJ Elections Voters Guide: 6th Legislative District

New Jersey’s 6th Legislative District is located in South Jersey along the western border of the Delaware River. It includes Maple Shade in Burlington County and most of Camden County (Audubon Park, Berlin borough and township, Cherry Hill, Clementon, Gibbsboro, Haddon Township, Haddonfield, Hi-Nella, Laurel Springs, Lawnside, Lindenwold, Magnolia, Oaklyn, Pine Hill, Pine Valley, Somerdale, Stratford, Tavistock and Voorhees).
The district has been firmly held by Democrats for decades. Of the registered voters in the district, more than 45% are Democrats and just 19% are Republicans. Most of the rest are unaffiliated.
The district has been represented by Sen. James Beach, the former Camden County clerk, since 2009. Mark Doogan of Voorhees is the Republican candidate.
The incumbent Democratic Assembly candidates are Louis Greenwald, the majority leader since 2012, and Pamela Lampitt, who was elected in 2006 and works at the University of Pennsylvania. They face Republicans Brian McRory and Danielle Barry, both of Haddonfield.
Editor’s note: All candidates for state legislative seats were contacted multiple times for the NJ Decides 2023 voting guide Q&As. Click on a candidate to see who responded and any answers provided. More information about the project, including the full text of the questions, is available.
