NJ Voters Guide: 22nd Legislative District

New Jersey’s 22nd Legislative District covers North Plainfield in Somerset County and nine Union County municipalities (Clark, Cranford, Fanwood, Linden, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains and Winfield).

The district has been a Democratic stronghold since the turn of the century. Of all registered voters, about 48% are Democrats, 18% are Republicans and most of the rest are unaffiliated.

Democratic incumbents Linda Carter, a former Plainfield councilwoman and Union County commissioner, and James Kennedy, a former mayor of Rahway and owner of a family jewelry store, are seeking reelection.

The Republican candidates are Lisa Fabrizio, who ran unsuccessfully two years ago, and Jermaine Caulder of Rahway.
