Nationwide attention is on New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, a battleground for control of the House.

Affiliated voters first must choose their party’s nominee in New Jersey’s June 2 primary election.

The Republican is two-term Rep. Tom Kean Jr., a former state senator who first won the seat in 2022. He is unopposed.

Four Democrats are vying for their party’s nomination: Rebecca Bennett, a former Navy helicopter pilot now working in health system strategy; Brian Varela, a small business owner from Long Valley; Michael Roth, a former official with the U.S. Small Business Administration from Westfield; and Dr. Tina Shah, M.D,. a former adviser to the U.S. surgeon general, also from Westfield.
