On Chat Box, David Cruz talks with U.S. Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-10th) about the federal assault charges brought against her after the scuffle outside Delaney Hall, an immigrant detention center in Newark, earlier this month.

As Republicans threaten disciplinary action against her, McIver discusses what’s next in her fight against what she calls these “purely political” charges and weighs in on the Trump administration suing four New Jersey cities for “sanctuary city” policies.

Later, Assemblyman Paul Kanitra (R-Ocean) talks about the multiple arrests and incidents in Seaside Heights during Memorial Day weekend. Kanitra discusses what he thinks is at the root of the incidents and what measures are being taken to protect residents and tourists. Kanitra also explains his push for a bill that would establish the offense of inciting a public brawl and upgrade the penalty for disorderly conduct in certain circumstances.
