New Jersey public schools last year topped $20,000 in per-pupil spending for the first time, coming in at $20,154 in budgeted costs for the 2023-24 school year. The total was a whopping 9.5% increase from the prior year’s actual costs.
These numbers and many more are in the state’s annual Taxpayers Guide to Education Spending, released on Wednesday. It not only includes statewide breakdowns, but those for individual districts as well.
