New Jersey may be on a record run when it comes to rainfall, or the lack thereof.
With virtually no rainfall so far in October, the state may make a run at the October record of just .0.25 inch — yes, a quarter of an inch — back in 1963, according to the New Jersey State Climatologist at Rutgers University. The October norm over the last 30 years was over 4 inches, and the most was in 2005, when a soaking 12 inches fell.
