Due to a number of factors, New Jersey has long been cited as having one of the nation’s highest rates of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2.9% of 8-year-old children in New Jersey were identified with ASD in 2020. That’s roughly one in 35 children, the CDC said.
