August 21, 2024 | Number of The Day

With the Democratic National Convention in full swing in Chicago, New Jersey’s delegates will have a big constituency to represent: the state’s 2,521,808 registered Democrats.

Two in five registered voters in New Jersey are Democrats, far outnumbering the state’s 1.6 million Republicans and even its 2.4 million unaffiliated voters, according to the latest registration numbers released by the state. The most populous county when it comes to Democrats: Essex, at nearly 300,000. The least: Salem County, with just 14,000 Democrats.
