The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) on Friday said 186 complaints of anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate and discrimination have been reported in the state so far in 2024.
CAIR-NJ said it has documented cases from January to June, with a 118% increase over the same period in 2023. The cases include many involving schools settings and workplaces, it said, and 35 were specifically hate incidents or crime-related, more than double the number last year.
